The Island of Usedom...an unforgettable holiday experience
Location and Region

Location and Region

The island of Usedom is Germany’s second largest island and is situated in the north-east of the country, on the Baltic coast. Usedom is the only island in Germany with dual nationality, the border to Poland lies between the seaside resort of Ahlbeck and the Polish seaside resort of Świnoujście. Getting to the island of Usedom is easy; the port of Świnoujście has ferry connections to ports in Sweden and Denmark. There are two bridges connecting Usedom to the mainland by road and a local train crosses the bridge in the North, stopping at all of the island’s main resorts. Usedom’s regional airport in Heringsdorf welcomes flights every Saturday in the peak season from seven German and two Swiss cities.

Family on the Beach

Most Beautiful Place Beside the Sea

Usedom’s 45 km of Baltic coast are flanked by ten diverse seaside resorts: from the stylish and lively “3 Imperial Spas” of Ahlbeck, Heringsdorf and Bansin in the south, via the “Amber Spas” of Ückeritz, Loddin, Koserow and Zempin in the centre of the island, to the family-orientated “Island Spas” of Zinnowitz, Trassenheide and Karlshagen in the north. With 1,906 hours of sunshine according to long term statistics, Usedom has the most hours of sunshine in the whole of Germany, which makes the 42 km of fine, white sandy beaches the perfect place for holidaymakers of all ages, from sandcastle builders to sunbathers. You can even walk out over the Baltic on one of Usedom’s five piers or stroll along Europe’s longest beach promenade from Bansin to Świnoujście.
